Yet another scam email to avoid

The following is a typical email from some company that we do NOT do business with:

Domain Name: [redacted- just bought domain name 2 days ago] (Account #6619345)

This email is being sent out to you because search registration for [redacted] is pending. Please register these domains to search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo ASAP to avoid late fees. [there's no "late" fees for Google, Bing, Yahoo, or any of the major search engines. There aren't even FEES] Registering for search engines would help you show up in search results and increase your online presence.

Remember... If you do not register your domain with the search engines, it may not
appear in the search engine listing when people are looking for you [FALSE. SEO is mostly determined by content of the site, and NEVER by registration]. Failure to

We got this email simply because we registered a domain name 2 days ago, and "redacted" was that domain name. What these people do is bank on the registrant having little to no knowledge about how things work online, and then try to scam fake fees from you. Ignore them, block them, whatever your particular email program has to help fight this spam. That's the best you can do, since if they get shut down with one domain, they'll pop back up with another.
